We commend them for reaching out to so many organisations and making a difference to so many lives.Anando has been working with Dr. Dipankar Dutta and his team at Save India since 2013. Save India funds “Ahaarâ€, our supplementary nutrition programme. This programme entails providing nutritional snacks for the children from disadvantaged backgrounds who attend Anando’s programmes. The financial assistance that we have received from Save India has come as a boon. It has helped us reach out to children whose regular diet is deficient in protein which makes many of them underweight and malnourished. It has also allowed us to educate their mothers about nutrition, diets and eating habits of children. It has been a pleasure being associated with Save India these past 2 years. Their support and encouragement for our programmes is much appreciated. The advice and suggestions that they have given us have always been relevant and useful, allowing us to modify and improve this programme in a positive way. It has been good to see Save India itself grow along these past few years, adding new facets to their programme. We commend them for reaching out to so many organisations and making a difference to so many lives. |
We are grateful to SAVE INDIA for this support to provide all the students of BTS-PathBhavan with nutritional diets..BTS-PathBHavan is a school in the middle of the remote village and it has 240 poor children from the vulnerable families of rural working mothers , forest-fringe people(collecting woods, NTFPs like Honey from the mouth of the Royal Bengal Tiger) & Fishermen communities...Almost all the parents are unfortunate most are unable to continue bearing their children’s educational expenses and thus causing drop-outs and child labour. Save India has extended their kind support in providing Mid-Day Meal to 240 school children from vulnerable families, who are unable to provide food to their children before sending them to school in the morning. Almost all the children used to suffer from malnutrition problems. It was literally a torture for us to ask them to study in almost empty stomachs and we had frequent absentisms and school dropouts. We are grateful to Save India for this support to provide all the students of BTS-PathBhavan with nutritional diets during the tiffin-hours. The children and their parents are really happy to have this midday meal support. This support has not only improved their health, but, has also increased their attendance record. The poor students and their parents now have an incentive to send their children to our school. |
Adrija could not achieve anything without last three years’ support from SAVE INDIAI am a mother of Adrija, who has Down syndrome. If I could go back in time and relive one moment, without a doubt I would choose the moment a few years ago when I knew from a paediatric doctor, "Your baby has Down syndrome. "Slumped on the couch, tears overflowing, and feeling like my world just imploded, I knew nothing would ever be the same. Adrija had a negative experience in an adapted class work. She often had difficulty completing class work and school assignments, particularly complex assignments and had trouble understanding the specific assignment requirements and what was expected of them. In addition, she would experience difficulty with the organizational skills required to complete a large assignment. But now, looking back on that moment few years later, I want to replace that anxiety, sorrow, and anger with different emotions. Hopeful ones! There were things that I just didn't know at the time. Up to that point, I had a stereotypical picture of Down syndrome in my mind: a life with zero potential, a life spent trapped in a corner with no time to think, feel, or truly live. This unfounded view of Down syndrome created an imagined reality of despair and sadness. A reality that, it turns out, doesn't exist. I am proud - she has passed School Final Exam through National Institute of Open Schooling and appeared Higher Secondary Exam. She is learning Dance, Drawing and capable for performing in the competition. It’s hard to express the joys that come from a child with Down syndrome. Perhaps I experience even greater pride in her accomplishments because they once seemed impossible. But my joy as a mother comes, like it does for any parent, from the small moments of wonder and beauty and human connection. It will not be out of place to mention here – Adrija could not achieve anything without last three years’ support from SAVE INDIA. It has really been great to work with them during the past three years. It is also great that many children of our School like Adrija have been benefitting with their continuous financial support, which is the real need to the school. I wish all success! |
